Mission

StoveTec GreenFire Technology, Biomass Outdoor Cook Stoves. StoveTec is the commercial stove side of operations of Aprovecho Research Center, with the mission to place low unit cost, low fuel use, low emission, low greenhouse gas, biomass stoves in the hands of 50% of the world that still cooks by open flame.

The Aprovecho Research Center (ARC) staff started StoveTec to make another option available to stove projects. StoveTec's stove store sells ARC-designed Rocket stoves that are made in a wonderful family-run factory in China. The factory had been selling millions of great refractory ceramic stoves for many years and readily adapted their engineering, production capacity and materials to create what have proven to be excellent Rocket stoves. StoveTec does not change what ARC is doing. Aprovecho continues to provide technical assistance to stove projects. But now StoveTec offers Rocket stoves and Rocket stove parts and emissions monitoring equipment. These resources can expand, enhance or supplement stove projects worldwide. StoveTec also markets the ARC-designed Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) and the Indoor Air Pollution Meter (IAPM). These devices allow stove projects and stove testers to measure the performance of stoves in laboratory and field settings.

StoveTec partners with Aprovecho Research Center to identify social and cultural input, when developing improved cook stove products, and services.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Aprovecho Research Center is the non-profit, technical adviser for StoveTec products and services.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

All StoveTec products are tested at Aprovecho Research Center. StoveTec distributes emission monitoring equipment, developed by Aprovecho Research Center. Our PEMS and IAPM devices support testing, measurement and step-wise improvement of stoves developed in the field. We fully support and encourage continued testing and development to improve stove performance, improve air quality, and reduce the impact of cooking on the environment.
