Registration for India Kitchen Performance Test (KPT) Workshop

IMPORTANT CHANGE! There has been a change in the workshop start date - the workshop will start August 6th, instead of August 5th as was previously scheduled. It will still end on Friday August 9th.

The U.S. EPA and Winrock International are pleased to announce the next in our series of technical capacity building workshops. The primary objective of this capacity building initiative is to equip organizations with stove testing knowledge to inform and improve stove design, performance and use. This current initiative builds on the U.S. EPA’s evaluation of stove performance in the laboratory and previous field testing in Nepal, India, Peru, Rwanda, Laos, Bangladesh, Uganda, Vietnam and Mexico. You can learn more about these past efforts at ../..//proceedings (link will open in a new window).

The workshop will take place in Ahmedabad, India from Tuesday, August 6th through Friday, August 9th, and will be hosted by Alpha Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. The focus for this event is the Kitchen Performance Test (KPT), a field test designed to measure daily household fuel consumption in real-world settings. Technical trainers from Berkeley Air Monitoring Group will conduct the workshop in a very interactive and collaborative manner. This is a hands-on workshop intended for organizations that directly implement stove programs in India, and specifically for individuals who are involved in stove design and testing for their organization. Because space is limited, please be sure to register the appropriate representative from your organization.

The registration deadline for this workshop is Thursday, July 25th. Participants will be responsible for paying for their own meals, travel costs and lodging (with the exception of working lunches during the workshop and limited travel support for only a small number of participants - see below).

The workshop content and discussions will occur in English with translation, if necessary.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Effectively plan, organize and conduct a KPT to evaluate the field performance of their stove.
  • Understand how to overcome common barriers and complications that may affect a well-executed KPT.
  • Apply KPT results to improve stove design, performance and use.
  • Share knowledge with others working in this field to build capacity on a regional level.

Workshop participation criteria – Participants must:

  • Be based in or currently working in India.
  • Be actively manufacturing and/or selling/disseminating improved stoves (or providing training/testing for those who do).
  • Be responsible for stove design and testing within your organization.
  • Be willing to complete an organizational action plan, submit a workshop evaluation and complete 3-month follow up report detailing action taken as a result of this training.

Space is limited (maximum one person per organization). In addition, there is very limited travel support available. Selection of travel support recipients will be based on responses to the questions in this registration form, with preference given for those with financial need, and for those who have demonstrated strong participation in past U.S. EPA and Winrock sponsored activities.

You will receive an email shortly after submitting your registration form with the information you entered; please review the email for accuracy. If you do not receive the confirmation email it is unlikely that your registration form was received, in which case please contact us at moderator@cookstovesandindoorair.org.
