Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

Converting kerosene that has been used for more than 4 decades is quite challenging due to people's culture in cooking and maintaining clean environment.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Through kerosene to LPG conversion, we created a new market in cooking fuel industries. The program also brought domino effects which encourage many supporting industries in order to support the program.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Cooking technology, especially for middle-lower income people, should be practical and easy to use especially in identifying gas leaking. In this case, Pertamina adds mercaptan as a sign for users to identify gas leaking.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

The conversion program contributes in reducing air pollution caused by kerosene in cooking activities.
