Mission

Our mission is to promote health awareness, sustainable energy resource use and environment conservation by integrating research and development. This mission is achieved through improving community livelihoods through public awareness, applied science and research. CIRCODU also proposes and implements projects aimed at environmental conservation.

With respect to energy, CIRCODU is interested in developing and promoting use of green energy systems through sustainable natural resource utilization and research.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

CIRCODU has not experienced any social/cultural barriers in our activities so far.


Market development for improved cooking technologies:

CIRCODU has previously marketed improved household charcoal stoves locally manufactured in Uganda. It intends to also market energy saving institutional stoves throughout the whole country. CIRCODU is interested in venturing into emissions trading as an incentive to development and use of efficient cooking technologies in Uganda.


Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

CIRCODU has no experience in Technology Standardization. However it boasts of a young and dynamic membership that is willing to be trained in this field.


Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

CIRCODU has been involved in Indoor Air Pollution (IAP) and Kitchen Performance Tests (KPT) monitoring on improved household charcoal/wood cookstoves in Uganda. Furthermore, Usage and Kitchen surveys have been done.

Our Contribution to the Partnership

CIRCODU will participate in information exchange which may involve training and sharing of experiences. CIRCODU is able and willing to offer services in joint projects with other partners in the areas of IAP and KPT monitoring. CIRCODU is also interested in collaborative research with partners in household energy systems development and use.
