Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

- In promoting use of improved stoves, people tend to say that they don't warm themselves. They can't rost potatoes ect...


Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We are much interested in this. One of the components of our Project is about income generating activities and marketing around improved stoves.We have trained 1200 women in income generarting activities, small project elaboration and its management


Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

With support from PCIA, in this November Aprovecho will organise stove cooking tests and possible adjastements will be operated in order to make our stove standardized.


Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

One of project objectives is to desseminate stoves that prevent users to e exposed to much cooking smoke, we are interested to make sure about our contribution in reducing indoor air pollution. In the visit of Aprovecho, we will also monitor that reduction.

Relevant Publications or Studies

The project has made community mobilisation posters, a booklet on environment protection messages including the use of improved stoves; The project has made a merket survey on improved stove in Southern part of Rwanda
