Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

We have to give minimal input in the Andes in order to get sustainability.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We train local stove installers that offer their services to rural families, being paid by them.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We developed for GTZ a new version of the Inkawasi Stove, capable of using all standard Andean fuels including firewood, shrubs, cow dung, lama dung. Stoves are very thouroughly tested and have standardized measures. The performance of the local installers is also subject to thorough controls.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We concentrate on the technical and procedural monitoring together with GTZ, GTZ being responsible for further impact monitoring.
