The Summer Stoves Camp was organized by Engineers in Technical and Humanitarian Opportunities of Service Learning (ETHOS); a non-profit organization whose purpose is to facilitate research and development of appropriate technology by forming collaborative North-South partnerships between universities, research laboratories, engineers; and non-governmental organizations in foreign countries. The camp was held at Aprovecho Research Center based in Oregon USA. Experts tested cookstoves from around the world for smoke emissions using new testing equipments and techniques. The cost of attending the Camp ranged from $800 to free depending on the attendee's financial circumstances. A limited number of scholarships were also available. More information on the Stoves Camp is available here.
