Our Focus
Tezpur University especially the Department of Energy is now conducting research work on indoor air pollution. North-East India is mostly hilly and has a large usage of biomass materials for cooking, room heating, etc. We are measuring household's exposures to different gases released during burning of biomass materials and its impact on human health. We are also developing an exposure model for different toxic gases based on various hosehold designs typical to the region. The research work is funded by Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources, Government of India.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
Our research work is in the preliminary stage and we are conducting surveys of different fuel types and stoves used in the north-eastern part of India, including their different emission characteristics. Further information will be available when our work progresses.
