SEA promotes sustainable energy approaches and practices in the development of South Africa and Africa. We do this through research, capacity building, information dissemination, project implementation, lobbying and networking. Our skills and experience cover urban and regional planning, engineering, economics, environmental science and education.

We are guided by: a consultative and interactive approach with client groups and communities; local capacity building and empowerment; use of appropriate technologies; sustainability of processes and projects; sensitivity to gender, race and class; and a commitment to the highest quality of professional standards in work process. SEA's staff background covers engineering, environmental science, urban and regional planning and training. SEA members have experience in research, engineering, consulting and contracting, urban planning, low income housing development, education and training. We have postgraduate degrees in energy and environmental studies and urban and regional planning and offer many years of experience working in these areas.
