Solare Bruecke was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization with the idea to do its share in balancing out global inequality , easing the pressure on the environment and providing energy for sustainable development. The aim of Solare Bruecke is to develop and promote 'simple' solar energy solutions. 'Simple' means that it must be possible to produce solar appliances locally, with the local resources and skills. Therefore Solare Bruecke provides training and continuous technical support to its worldwide partners and does research and development together with them. We support our partners with knowledge, but not with finance. We work with a net of independent partners running local workshops. Our partners are NGOs in the fields of environmental protection, education or social work, religious institutions or companies. The way we work is marked by personal interactions. We prefer this to bureaucratic processes and alliances on paper.

Our Focus
India, Germany, Mexico, Afghanistan, Sansibar, Sudan, and many others. Scale: we work always with local partners - the scale of their projects varies. Target population : everybody (potentially), mostly our technology is for institutional applications.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
We have experience with barriers against solar cooking at the institutional level.
We never directly market the technology. Our local partners do and give us feedback. Therfore there is a lot of experience on the difficulties of entering a potentially huge market with a new product in different countries.
Continuose effort to standardize the technology. We publish manuals for solar stove construction and give courses.
We have not monitored the health effects as such. We have data for different settings about fuelsavings (wood, gas, kerosin/diesel). As our technology is emission free we can draw the general conclusion that the health situation has improved.

Our Contribution to the Partnership
We are particularly interested in networking, because the more different positive initiatives know about each other the more they can benefit from each other and join forces. We will happily share our experiences and knowledge.
