Rural African Renewable Energy Project

Mission

Rural African Renewable Energy project is a non-governmental organization that promotes community-based renewable energy, action plans, knowledge exchange, capacity building and finance facilitation, in addition to providing energy services to the poor. We are using solar panels to produce electricity with white Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), while focusing on leadership, community participation, and long term economif and environmental sustainability.

Our Focus

Rural African Renewable Energy Project is active in the south-eastern part of Nigeria, West Africa. The benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency will have give access to health, sanitation and accelerate poverty reduction in addition to increased energy security and reduced pollution.

At this time, we are working on a project titled the link between energy supply and developmental needs of the poor as it relates to cooking, biomass use, and clean energy. The project will focus on accessibility, affordability, and appropriation, for developing a poverty alleviation strategy, and use energy as the entry point to address some of the problems.
