Local Government Engineering Department (LGED)

Mission

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is one of the largest engineering department in Bangladesh. It provides technical support to the Local Government Institutions, reinforcing rural roads and infrastructure network, diversified application of renewable energy technologies in the off-grid areas. Very recently LGED has engaged with a study on 'Bangladesh Indoor Air Pollution' which is sponsored by the World Bank.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

Technology barrier, particularly for improved gassification technology; financial barrier - high upfront cost of adopting technology; and; lack of local entrepreneur development.


Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Bangladesh has a huge market potential for improved cooking technologies.
