Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

CHF has experience in monitoring the impact of a fuel efficient stove program and by doing so, influenced changes in design of our stove to suit the needs of the local cultural cooking practices. CHF hopes to continue refining this method of improving upon our stove design and working with the local population to ensure our interventions are well received.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

CHF has experience in Sudan in developing the market for local metal workers to produce a stove design efficiently.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

CHF has not had experience to date in the standardization of technologies supporting household fuel efficiency.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

CHF has experience in monitoring the impact of a fuel efficient stove program and by doing so, influenced changes in design of our stove to suit the needs of the local cultural cooking practices.

Our Contribution to the Partnership

CHF would like to participate in the PCIA by forming partnerships and sharing experiences in order to contribute to stoves programs globally. CHF has extensive experience in market development, infrastructure and construction as well as health and sees great strength in tying these components into a more holistic program around household fuel efficiency and reduction of indoor air pollution.
