Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

Barrie's exist to introduction, adoption and scaling up of cleaner cooking technologies resulting in traditional fixed mindset of food preparation using three stoned fireplace. Most people get firewood for free from collecting in small farms and in forest areas. To convert to clean ways becomes hard, especially where society views cooking as a woman's issue. We are increasing awareness of benefits to adopting clean and healthier cooking devices which is helping break down the barriers.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

As manufacturers and distributors, and coupled with the fact that we are a profit driven company, a well established market for stoves with sustainable and functional distribution channels will surely be of utmost importance to our vision and goals.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We are interested in only introducing best of technologies that athere to set national and international standards. We are therefore fowarding all stoves we introduce to the Kenya Beaurea of Standards for testings and verification. We also register any cooking technology with Energy Regulatory Authority. We shall also be working with University of Nairobi for stove testings.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We have a in-house monitoring team that conducts surveys and research and takes data on impacts of indoor pollution on health as well as benefits of converting to cleaner technologies.
