Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

More than 93% of Malawians use biomass, and 54% are ultra-poor living on less than 1 USD per day. More than 5% of ARI related deaths among women and children are caused by use of biomass energy.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We have an extensive network for distribution of technologies.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

As an organisation we believe in adaptation and adoption of technologies that meet local as well as international standards. We are a key stakeholder involved in formulation of national standards.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We have the requisite experience in design and technology transfer but lack capacity in emission testing largely due to lack of equipment.
