Our Focus
Falls Brook Centre works at the local, regional, and international scales to develop appropriate technology, sustainable forestry and agriculture and community development projects aimed at creating resilient, livable communities. We work on projects in Canada and Latin American Countries. Though we focus on rural areas, we also work in urban centres to promote our goals.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
The largest barriers are in educating people to use sustainable technologies for cooking (i.e. solar cookers, wood efficient stoves), as a reliable alternative to their traditional cooking approach. It is often hard to get individuals to switch to new, unknown technologies.
We work with non-profits and for-profits in Latin American countries to promote appropriate technologies as widely as possible, in order to create opportunities in a variety of communities and contexts.
Developing standards of quality is a concern we strive to create.
We work with our partner groups to ensure uptake of appropriate technologies.
