Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

The largest barriers are in educating people to use sustainable technologies for cooking (i.e. solar cookers, wood efficient stoves), as a reliable alternative to their traditional cooking approach. It is often hard to get individuals to switch to new, unknown technologies.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We work with non-profits and for-profits in Latin American countries to promote appropriate technologies as widely as possible, in order to create opportunities in a variety of communities and contexts.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Developing standards of quality is a concern we strive to create.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We work with our partner groups to ensure uptake of appropriate technologies.
