Registration for Vietnam Measuring and Understanding Household Stove Use Workshop

The U.S. EPA and Winrock International are pleased to announce the next in our series of technical capacity building workshops for field-based stove monitoring. This current initiative builds on the U.S. EPA’s evaluation of stove performance in the laboratory and previous field testing in Rwanda, Nepal, India, Peru, Uganda, Benin, Malawi and Guatemala.

The workshop will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from Monday, August 1st through Thursday, August 4th, 2016, and will be hosted by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. The focus for this workshop is Measuring and Understanding Household Stove Use, to provide organizations with knowledge and skills to effectively assess and understand patterns of adoption and use, and to provide valid, robust data to facilitate and guide best practice. Technical trainers will conduct the workshop in a very interactive and collaborative manner. This is a hands-on workshop intended for organizations that directly implement stove programs in and around Vietnam, or those that provide regular support to stove implementers in the form of user research. Because space is limited, please be sure to register the appropriate representative from your organization.

The registration deadline for this workshop is Monday, July 11th. Participants will be responsible for paying for their own meals, travel costs and lodging (with the exception of working lunches during the workshop and limited travel support for only a small number of participants - see below).

The workshop content and discussions will occur in English.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand background and context for evaluating stove use/adoption.
  • Plan, develop and execute an informative, high-quality stove usage study.
  • Analyze and use the data collected at a project, program, company, and/or policy level.
  • Share knowledge with others working in this field to build capacity on a regional level.

Workshop participation criteria – Participants must:

  • Be based in or currently working in Vietnam or SE Asia.
  • Be actively manufacturing and/or selling/disseminating improved stoves, or have specific plans to work directly with a stove implementing organization to conduct user research in the near future.
  • Be responsible for stove monitoring, consumer research, and/or testing within your organization.
  • Be willing to complete an organizational action plan, submit a workshop evaluation and complete a 4-month follow up report detailing action taken as a result of this training.

Space is limited (maximum one person per organization). In addition, there is very limited travel support available. Selection of travel support recipients will be based on responses to the questions in this registration form, with preference given for those with financial need, and for those who have demonstrated strong participation in past U.S. EPA and Winrock sponsored activities, or Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves activities. No sitting allowances/per diems will be provided for any participants.

You will receive an email shortly after submitting your registration form with the information you entered; please review the email for accuracy. If you do not receive the confirmation email it is unlikely that your registration form was received, in which case please contact us at moderator@cookstovesandindoorair.org.
