Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

In the areas where the company works, there are many types of traditional stoves that people are using, believing that they are easy to use and proper. Those traditional stoves are being replaced by an improved variety of stoves. Traditional thinking keeps people using the traditional stoves, but this is gradually changing due to a behavior change orientation program.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

The organization/company has been involved in marketing appropriate stoves and other biomass technologies for the past 4-5 years in Nepal. It has established a clear chain of marketing through collectors, retailers, wholesalers and other city based traders.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We are working locally in the rural and semi-urban areas on the technology standardisation.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We have less knowledge about monitoring. We physically monitor the installed improved stoves by measuring and comparing visible spots in the kitchen.
