Our Focus
We have recently developed a variety of improved biomass cooking stoves, which are easy to use and very efficient. Some of our biomass cooking stoves which are fueled with palm kernel shell, hazelnuts kernel shell, or biomass pellet are indeed smoke free and therefore ready to be use as an alternative for the kerosene stove.
We have sold around 7500 stoves in Indonesia. We want to expand the market, not only in Indonesia, but also in other countries. So far, we have cooperation with NGOs, e.g. Kopernik Foundation (www.kopernik.info) as well as with governmental institutions.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
So far, the greatest problem for stove users is preparing the fuels. Our stoves require that the fuel, particularly wood, must be cut in pieces with maximum length of 16 cm, in order for the fuels to be mounted in the burning chamber. In most situations, the husbands considers that their job is just collecting fuel, while how to use the fuel is the matter of the wife, despite the fact that by using the efficient stove, the amount of fuels are significantly reduced.
To be successful bringing the improved stove technology to society/market, it is important not only to sell the stoves, but also to provide the fuels. From our experience, people are ready to use the stove for their daily cooking if fuels are easy to find in the market.
Our stoves have been tested by the Faculty of Technology, University of Gadjahmada, Yogjakarta, Indonesia, and found to be the best (the most efficient and the lowest CO emitter) among all Indonesia's made biomass improved stoves. It can be used indoor with good ventilation. User training is needed in order for the user to operate the stove properly.
We monitor the stove's usage directly by contacting them via phone. According to user reports, the stoves are very efficient, and emit almost no-smoke. Official data of user response is not yet done.

Our Contribution to the Partnership
We want to participate by spreading the technology of the stoves. We are glad to cooperate with other NGOs or government institutions for implementing the stoves to all of parts of the world. We are also ready if our stoves are fabricated in other countries. We believe that our stove technology can help many people around the world and avoid them from breathing polluted air in kitchen.
