Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
In using traditional fuels and stoves, the women have to pay huge of their time and labour for cooking as well as collection and processing of fuel but, the women don't get even any recognition of their works let alone the remuneration. Thus, the women are discriminated against in the family and by society.
For the extreme poor families it is difficult to afford to purchase improved cookstoves(ICS)from the market. So, UD provided technical support to prepare ICS by using hand-made pipe without any cost. On the contrary, the richer families are interested to purchase ready-made ICS from the market. So, there is opportunity to develop a market for ICS.
UD has been promoting the models of ICS which are accepted by the users but technical standardization was not done. Standardization of ICS for cooking, heating and ventilation is needed.
Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring is not presently done by UD. This type of monitoring is very much necessary.

Our Contribution to the Partnership
UD has long term experience in ICS promotion which can be shared among the partners. UD will also like to learn from the experiences of the other partners. Further, UD needs financial & technical support from the partnership to reinforce its ICS program.
